New Wines from Orange: Printhie

Printhie Vineyards

“Great wine is made in great vineyards and great vineyards require thoughtful planning.

From the outset Printhie Wines has worked to produce highly coloured and flavoured fruit, by firstly selecting the warm west facing site, for the Printhie vineyard.

Planting in 1996 represented a diversification from our traditional farming enterprise with an initial 25 acres developed.” – Printhie website

“Printhie can fairly claim to be the premier winery of the Orange region. “ – James Halliday

Printhie Mountain Range Merlot 2015

Php 980

Unlike a lot of merlots, there is good aromatic intensity in a wine with plenty of character. Ripe fruit shows red berries, cassis, a hint of floral, almost turkish delight & subtle cedar from oak maturation. A firm structure with fine tannins carry the flavours through to the finish. The balance is spot-on allowing for immediate enjoyment. Distinctly varietal. – Printhie Wines

Printhie Mountain Range Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Php 930

Orange region sauvignon blanc is quite distinctive and Orange is one of Australia’s leading region for the variety. This wine exhibits unmistakable sauvignon blanc aroma and flavour. Intense, lifted fruit in the passionfruit, floral, citrus spectrum with a cut grass edge to it. But a few winemaking techniques have added to the mid-palate weight and texture. Balanced acidity provides freshness and length. The extra maturation time has done wonders by avoiding shrill acidity and enhancing depth of flavour. – Printhie Wines
